Mandatory Credit: Matt Pendleton-USA TODAY Sports On Monday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, after reacting to Boston Red Sox television broadcaster Dennis Eckersley opting to retire at the end of the season, Zo had an interesting nugget on Tom Brady’s future in the booth. Beetle: Hall of Fame players now are not going into broadcasting. Hardy: The Tom Brady thing still amazes me, but the amount of money they’re throwing at them amazes me, too. And by the way, it hasn’t happened yet. I’ll actually believe that when I see it. Beetle: What’s that? Hardy: When you’re talking about other sports, other guys. In baseball, I think they make too much money and that’s why they won’t go, but for Brady going into the booth like years from now like that’s a lot of money and it’s more than he made as a as a player. But I’ll also believe it when I see it. Zo: Yeah It is fair, because somebody told me close to Brady said I wouldn’t be surprised if he never does a game. Hardy: Right? It’s like what is he gonna do? Tom Brady’s going to do that? Zo: There’s something going on there. Like there’s another step. Something’s up. I don’t know what it is, but somebody close to him said I’d be surprised if he calls a game. Earlier this summer, Tom Brady agreed to a 10-year-deal worth $375 million with Fox that would pay him $37.5 million annually. It’s set to start whenever he calls it an career in the NFL and it stands as the most lucrative deal in sports television history.
